Carbon offset is the system whereby a contribution is made towards a scheme that helps towards lowering carbon emissions. Examples are reforestation projects, wind farms that replace coal-fired power plants.
An offset that equals the carbon emissions from an activity would be referred to as “Carbon Neutral”
